DESCRIPTION: This is a vintage, gold tone, powder compact encrusted with red and green diamante glass stones. There is a small section in the middle with red stones. Then a decorative metal piece. Larger red and green stones surround that and on the outside is a twisted rope metal piece. There is a push in opening device. Inside there is used metal container that would have held solid powder. The back has a criss cross pattern with a plain circle in the middle.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: There is no maker’s mark – which is such a shame. This quite heavy compact would probably have been made some time during the early part of the second half of the 20th century. It would have held solid powder such as Cream Puff by Max Factor. A great accessory to put on a dressing table!
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: It is in good used condition. The metal has aged evenly. There are no damages or marks. The mirror is good too. The glass stones are also in undamaged condition. It measures about 3 1/2 in diameter – so quite large. The push in opening device works well.
