DESCRIPTION: A pair of Moroccan Berber coral earrings. Two pieces of branch coral hang above a white metal pendant set with a piece of coral. Modern silver ear hooks.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: These earrings came from the collection of a lady who only wore screw top fittings – and she changed the tops on all her earrings. I have replaced these with silver ear hooks made by my jeweller. I have a number of pairs of similar – but not identical – coral earrings. I put a photo of these earrings on an Ethnic Jewellery Site I belong to and several Moroccan dealers confirmed that they were Berber earrings from Morocco. One said that the pendant piece would originally have been from an older necklace. The drop has black colouring on the top inside piece. I expect the earrings do have a silver content but I cannot sell them as such due to the Hallmarking regulations. They have to be ‘white metal’. I believe these to be vintage but I could be wrong. The tops are obviously new.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The earrings measure about 3 inches top to bottom. They are in good original condition. Please see the backs of the earrings. They are not damaged – this is how they would have been made. The earrings tops are new sterling ones and have not been used.
