Description

DESCRIPTION: A large gold tone brooch by Monet. Designed in 1967 when these shapes were popular.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Alice Vega has written a wonderful book on Monet jewellery and all the information in these notes are from her book (Schiffer). Monet started in the earlier part of the 20th century as Monocraft. Monet was launched in 1937. It was very much a family orientated firm. However in later years it had a more turbulent history until it was finally taken over by Liz Claiborne in the year 2000. This brooch is shown on page 172 of the book and is described as the ‘Mirador Pin’ and was produced in 1967. It sold for $7.50!

MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: It is in very good condition. The actual colouring is a brighter gold colour – but could not seem to capture it in the photo. The colour is as it would have been in the 1960s. The pin and catch work well. It measures about 2 1/2 inches wide and 2 inches deep.
