Description
DESCRIPTION: A vintage Mexican warrior head brooch marked Sterling. Has a black carved stone as centrepiece.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: These pieces were made for the tourist trade and are reasonably priced compared with the named Mexican artists pieces. This piece is marked ‘Made in Mexico Sterling’. It cannot be sold in the U.K. as Sterling silver as it does not have a Hallmark that is recognised in the U.K. The work is quite elaborate. The carved stone is probably obsidian rather than onxy as it has a feint glitter to it – seen on second picture. I do not know if the influence is Mayan or Aztec and cannot find anything on Google to help!
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: It is in good condition apart from a missing spinner on the clasp. I have worn it and it seems very secure without. The pin is a tight fit into the clasp. I have, though, born this in mind when setting the price. It measures about 3 x 2 inches.
