DESCRIPTION: A vintage, porcelain, Limoges brooch depicting a picture of a Courting Couple originally painted by Fragonard. Gilt Metal edging. Date unknown.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This Limoges brooch depicts a famous picture of a courting couple/love story originally painted by Fragonard – the 18th century French painter. The signature is under the man playing a musical instrument. The woman is giving him flowers. Fragonard painted in the Rococco Style. Limoges often used this picture to decorate their wares. Limoges has a long history of porcelain manufacture and a variety of goods were made.

MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The brooch is in very good condition. The pin is a trombone clasp – often called a French pin. It was used a lot around the 1940s but continued to be used into the 1980s. It works well. It measures about 1 5/8 x 1 1/4 inches.
