DESCRIPTION: This is a small, vintage, Florenza shell cameo with faux pearls brooch on a gold tone setting.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: There is plenty of information about the company Florenza on Google. Florenza specialised in making Victorian Revival items and the quality was very good. It was started by Dan Kasoff in around 1950 (the company had previously made jewellery for other brands). The name has nothing to do with the city Florence but is named after Dan’s mother Florence. Larry Kasoff took over but unfortunately had an accident and the company finished in 1981. This piece has a copyright symbol so it dates after 1955. The cameo is a real shell cameo. The pearls are faux. Florenza used the best of materials and their gold plating was of a very high standard.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The brooch measures about 1 5/8ths x 1 1/4 inches. It has a hook so it can be hung on a chain. The pearls and cameo are fine. The cameo has a couple of dark spots at the bottom you can see in the pictures – these are in the shell and are not dirt/damages. They show up more on the photograph than they do in real life!
