DESCRIPTION: An Egyptian Revival, 1920s, silver chain necklace with six hanging plaques – each one very detailed and different.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Victorian Egyptian Revival extended into the 1930s -boosted by the opening of Tutankhamun’s tomb. I think this necklace probably predates the opening of the tomb as it does not include any pharaoh images in the design of the drops. These are very detailed and well made – but I cannot tell you what the designs stand for! There is a mark on the back of three of the drops – which I presume is a silver mark – possibly Egypt – but without a British hallmark I cannot sell it as Sterling.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The condition is good. It measures about 18 inches but the hook could be fixed in a bit tighter. Each pendant measures about 1 1/8 x 1/2 inches.
