    Description

This is a Czech. vintage filigree brooch – probably from  the Gablonz region – where they have been making metal work and glass stones costume jewellery for several centuries.  This oval, gold wash over brass, metal filigree work brooch was made around the 1930s.  It has claw set, flat backed, coloured diamante stones.  Flat backed glass diamante stones were very popular in the Art Deco period and are called that because they do have a flat back rather than a pointed one.   It has a central, diamond shaped, clear pink stone in the middle.  Because this stone is clear the metal work underneath shows through as if the stone is patterned. It measures approx 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches.  It has a long pin with a C clasp.  It is in good condition.  All the stones are present.  A very good example of a Czech. filigree brooch.
