Description
This is an Art Deco period painted enamel, white metal, powder compact in blue and black. It has a chevron pattern on the front in blue and black paint with white metal raised strips in between. The back is a plain blue. It has a puff and a wire mesh to keep in the powder. The price reflects the fact that it is not in pristine condition. The front is actually quite good. The back has a very small circle of paint missing. On the sides some of the surface has worn and a darker colour shows through- not terribly noticeable. The mirror is good. The inside metal is O.K. The puff is a bit grubby – could probably be washed! The mesh has deteriorated and is coming away. The lower tray comes out and it is in good condition under the mesh. This compact is for a collection rather than for use. It is a good example of a strongly Art Deco design but the paint would soon wear in use. It measures approx. 3 1/2 x 2 inches. A great example at a reasonable price – but there is nothing seriously wrong except for the wire mesh. Please see all pictures.
