Description
This is a very large belt buckle from the Art Deco period. It consists of 2 triangles – one with red flowers and one with orange – on a black background. It is coloured on top of a white/cream early plastic. I think it is probably galalith. It certainly is not Bakelite and I don’t think it is celluloid. Some of the background has been cut away round the stalks – not easy to do with celluloid – and the weight does not feel right. Cannot get a useful smell from it The fittings on the back are metal and have split pins. They look more late 20s than 1930s. It is marked with some initials that look a bit like “ACllll” which means nothing to me. What a wonderful belt it would make! It is in good condition and each piece measures approx. 5 x 3 1/4 inches.
