Description
DESCRIPTION: A pair of Art Deco period diamante earrings. These vintage earrings are on white metal – chrome or rhodium probably and have a hook fitting. They are in three pieces. The top tiny piece has one diamante stone with the hook fitting. The middle drop piece has diamante stones. The bottom piece has a black glass stone surrounded by diamante stones. A good example of the diamante earrings of the period.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I have not added or altered these earrings in any way but I think they would originally have been screw fittings. Looking closely at the top tiny piece – it has lost the shiny white metal finish (or maybe is not the original top.) Many earrings of this period were screw fittings and not everyone can wear them. They are often adapted for pierced ears. The picture of the back shows – I think – the brass showing through slightly. This can happen from the heat of the soldering to alter the fitting. None of this shows from the front. However it might be important if you react to certain metals.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The earrings have a 2 1/4 approx. drop top to bottom. Aside from the above – the earrings are in good condition for their age. The diamante stones are all present. There are some little lines on the metal at the back but these may have been original in the making.
