Description
This is a small, Art Deco brooch consisting of a green, swirley bakelite rectangle set into a silver metal setting with cabochon black stones and marcasite. It is in three parts. The top part is a bar which holds the rest of the brooch. The next part links the top and bottom pieces. The bottom part has the rectangular piece of green bakelite which tests weakly with Simichrome cream. This piece has two black cabochon stones – which may be glass or onxy. On the back – and difficult to read – are the words ‘sterling’ and ‘pat’d’. The whole brooch is set with very small marcasite stones. It measures approx. 2 1/4 x 1 inch. Although small, it is a lovely example of an Art Deco brooch.
