Description
DESCRIPTION: This is an Art Deco period celluloid snake bangle for the upper arm. It is in cream and brown colours.
ADITIONAL INFORMATION: Celluloid snake bangles were very popular in the Art Deco period. They were made for the upper or lower arm. Celluloid was a suitable material for making these bangles as it has a little bit of give. This is an upper arm bangle – at 3 and a bit inches – but sizes of arms have changed. Some with a small arm size will be able to get it on their upper arm. Others with large arms/wrists will be able to wear it lower down – maybe with a smaller ‘keeper’ one in front. I am showing the picture of my wrist – which is average – to show I could not wear it on my wrist – neither can I get it on my upper arm! However this bangle is a bit special and I am hoping it will fit someone! I usually have a decent stock of Art Deco celluloid bangles – including snakes – in my shop at Alfies Antiques in central London.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The inside measurement is about 3 1/8th inches. The width is about 1/2 inch. The overall condition is good for the age and material. A little wear on the head. The brown line on the head is original.
