Description
DESCRIPTION: An Art Deco, chrome and prystal apple juice, transparent bakelite dress clip with confetti decoration – made by the Catalin Corporation around 1930.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: When – in 1927 – the bakelite patent expired, the Catalin corporation started to make similar resin and called it Catalin. It is similar to bakelite but could be made in a variety of types and colours. People still call it all ‘bakelite’ in the same way they call all vacuume cleaners ‘Hoovers’! Prystal apple juice is a transparent, yellow colour and for a relatively short time had ‘confetti’ added to it making it glitter. It has become quite collectible. Have no idea what was put in to add this effect! This clip has a wavy chrome top with a long piece of the apple juice – a great Deco shape!
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The condition is good for the age. It measures about 2 1/2 inches in length.
