DESCRIPTION: A heart shaped, small, diamante stones brooch. The stones are open backed on white metal. Antique I think.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Open backed diamante stones are rarer and I do not get many examples. This brooch – which is brighter than in the picture – has well cut stones which do not loose their shine as they have no backing to deteriorate. I think the stones are glass. Sometimes the colour of the backing clothes shines through. The pin is extra long and the catch a ‘C’ shaped one (the ‘C’ is upside down!) The use of extra long pins is usually up to about 1910. I am therefore thinking it is antique. The white metal mount is well made but there is no mark.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The condition is good. The catch works well although the ‘C’ is upside down. It measures about 1 1/4 x 1 1/8th inches.
