DESCRIPTION: This is a 1940s American vintage brooch and screw top earrings set. Thin pieces of bronze, green and cream coloured tape/ribbon are twisted into knot shapes.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Just after W11 lots of jewellery was made with inexpensive materials and I have seen pieces in this vein made of coated wire or celluloid. I am assured by the person who sold me this set that it was American made. However neither of is is sure what it is made of! It is like a shiny, coated, plastic ribbon/tape. The colours blend well together – bronze, 3 shades of green and cream. So stylish! It might be possible to get the screw fittings off and replace them but I would not like to try it myself!
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: The condition of the set is good. The pin back is glued on but seems secure. Same with the screw back earrings fittings. The brooch measures approx. 2 x 2 1/2 inches and the earrings approx. 1/2 x 1 inch.
