DESCRIPTION: A Melissa vintage mother of pearl and gold tone powder compact with pouch, sifter and puff. It has a decorated gold tone panel on the front. The back has a lined pattern. 1950/60s.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Melissa was a British company making powder compacts mid 20th century. These compacts were for loose powder. There was a sifter to prevent spills and a thin powder puff. It has the distinctive tear shaped catch on the inside- exclusive to Melissa. This sort of compact was from the 1930s – 1960s. This one would be during the 1950 – early 1960s.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: On the whole in good condition and may not have been used. Puff certainly not used. A couple of very small marks. However the pouch is not in good condition but I include is as it appears to be original to the compact. It measures about 2 1/2 inches square. It is marked Melissa and Made in England under the mirror.
