DESCRIPTION: This is an unused Girey powder compact, rouge and lipstick in a pearlised celluloid and white metal. It has a framed picture in the middle of a lady in a large hat.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a compact by Girey – an American compact compact who made between the 1930’s and the 1950’s. This resembles a camera. The white metal has MOP celluloid covering it – and a patterned white celluloid round the picture. It has two knobs on the side. At one end it opens the compact. At the other end there is a pull out lipstick. The lipstick is pushed out by a tiny lever on the side. Inside is a rouge compartment. The covering has been removed. It has not been used. The powder compartment has the Girey shield on top. This also has not been used. The two puffs are on top unused. The mirror has a couple of black spots – please see picture – and show some signs of age.
MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION: In very good condition. Only the mirror has any signs of ageing. It measures about 3 1/4 x 1 3/4 inches.
