    Description

DESCRIPTION: This is a set of rolled gold vintage cuff links and collar studs set in an original box from between the 1930-1950s.  There are a pair of dark grey mother of pearl and rolled gold cuff links with linking chain.  There are two front studs and two  back studs.  The back studs are marked ‘single piece rolled gold’.  These two studs are different sizes – one having a longer shank than the other.  The two front studs are not marked but have smaller pieces of the same mother of pearl at the front.  The cuff links are not  marked.  The box has a faux skin grey pattern back and front.  Inside the box on the top ?silk lining is a sticker marked ‘Rolled Gold’.  The pieces are set into a black material bottom.  There are pieces of cord – presumably to hold the items into place – but they do not seem to work very well!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  This set would be for someone who had detachable shirt collars.  Before more efficient washing powders and spin dryers became available shirts needed to have the collars scrubbed to get them clean before washing, drying and starching.  It was easier to do this with detachable collars – and maybe even just replacing the collars when they became worn.

MEASUREMENTS AND CONDITION:  The box is in good condition and measures about 4 1/4 x 2 3/4 inches.  The items are also in very good condition.  The set looks to be original to the box even if the bits of chord are a mystery!
