Description
This is a 1930s Bakelite brooch – probably a butterscotch colour – but I am no expert in the colours of Bakelite! It is large – being 3 1/2 x a 1/2 inches approx. It is deeply carved – and is (I think) leaves and 2 flowers – rather than fruits! The flowers are carved into disk shapes (I have notices these shapes a lot in carved Bakelite pieces from this period). The leaves are carved right round the sides of the brooch. The clasp is long and has a safety catch. It is in very good condition – no damage. It is a very good example of a carved Bakelite brooch from the 1930s period.
