Gillian Horsup Vintage Jewellery at Alfies Antiques in central London – I have been buying and selling vintage jewellery, vintage costume jewellery and vintage accessories in London and the U.K. for over 35 years, and had been in Grays Antiques (the Mews) in central London for the past 13 years. I started selling vintage jewellery and accessories in markets such as Covent Garden and Camden Passage, and antiques fairs such as Alexander Palace, Greenwich Art Deco, Battersea Art Deco and Kensington Decorative Arts. We had to be on the move again as Grays Mews shut and we are at Alfies Antiques nearby – see new details on the Contact Me page.
I sell an eclectic mix of vintage jewellery, vintage costume jewellery, bags, compacts, scarves and other vintage accessories such as cigarette holders and powder boxes.
My favourite period is the 20’s – 30’s but will sell anything that I like. This includes some antique and Victorian jewellery, art nouveau jewellery, art deco jewellery, early plastic jewellery – such as celluloid, bakelite and galalith jewellery, Czech and Venitian glass jewellery, white paste jewellery, jet jewellery, Mexican jewellery, silver jewellery, 40’s and 50’s and more modern jewellery such as 60’s plastic jewellery, 80’s gilt jewellery, Lea Stein, Pavone and Butler & Wilson jewellery – and I sell some mens accessories – cuff links, buttons, studs and tie clips. I particularly like vintage beads and restore necklaces. I specialise in U.K. jewellery and European vintage jewellery, but I have some American jewellery.
For 13 years I shared a stand with Lola of Unicorn at Grays Antique Markets. I am part of Vintage Modes – and due to the closure of Grays Mews – Vintage Modes has moved to Alfies Antiques in Marylebone, in central London. (We are on the 2nd floor near the Café.) I have a very comprehensive selection of vintage jewellery, costume jewellery, compacts and other accessories.
I prefer to sell in my shop – as I like the contact with my customers and feel that it is good to try the jewellery and accessories on – but I am happy to help anyone who cannot get to London, or the U.K., or who cannot find something. Also, I like to look at things when I buy them, but am always glad to hear from someone wishing to sell something interesting.
